Sacramento: Tragic Police Chase Ends in Fatal Accident, Woman Died
Fatal Sacramento Accident:
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A tragic incident unfolded in Sacramento during the early hours of Saturday morning, leaving the community in shock and mourning the loss of a young woman. Sacramento Police officers were involved in a high-speed pursuit that ended in a fatal pedestrian accident on Interstate 80. The victim has been identified as 19-year-old Fatina Chaney, a name that now resonates with sadness in Sacramento.
It all began around 3:05 a.m. on that fateful Saturday when Sacramento Police attempted to pull over a vehicle on Evergreen Street at Del Paso Boulevard. Their intention was to address vehicle code violations, but the car in question didn’t comply and sped away, initiating a police chase.
As the pursuit unfolded, it eventually led the officers onto Interstate 80, near the intersection of Marysville Boulevard, at around 3:51 a.m. Unfortunately, the police lost sight of the fleeing vehicle as it entered the freeway.
Tragically, the situation took an even more devastating turn when the pursued vehicle crashed on the eastbound onramp from Marysville Boulevard to Interstate 80. After the collision, a number of individuals reportedly fled from the scene of the accident, including Fatina Chaney.
In a heart-wrenching twist of events, Chaney, attempting to evade the chaotic aftermath, ventured onto the eastbound lanes of I-80. It was there that she was struck by multiple vehicles, each representing a painful moment in the sequence of events that unfolded that early morning. Miraculously, a few compassionate souls among those drivers stopped immediately to assist, showing the strength of human empathy even in the face of such tragedy, according to officers from the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
Currently, the CHP’s North Sacramento office is leading the investigation into this devastating and fatal crash. Their meticulous work will aim to shed light on the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking incident.
