Patriots Fan’s Preliminary Autopsy:
The initial findings of an autopsy conducted on a devoted New England Patriots enthusiast, who tragically passed away following an incident during a game on Sunday, have revealed a medical issue rather than any traumatic injury, according to a statement by the Norfolk district attorney.
The individual in question, Dale Mooney, aged 53, collapsed at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts during the fourth quarter of the Patriots’ game against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday night. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he was pronounced dead just before midnight, as confirmed by authorities.
While the district attorney characterized the episode involving Mooney as a “scuffle,” one eyewitness described it as a “violent confrontation.” The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mooney’s demise is still ongoing, as stated by the DA’s office.
In their official statement released on Wednesday, the DA’s office indicated, “Our investigation has encompassed numerous interviews with law enforcement and a thorough examination of various video angles capturing the altercation that occurred before Mr. Dale Mooney’s collapse during the Sunday night game at Gillette Stadium.”
The statement further clarified, “The preliminary results of the autopsy did not indicate any traumatic injury but did reveal a medical issue. The specific cause and manner of death remain undetermined pending further testing.”
These statements have come to light amidst growing questions about the events leading up to Mooney’s collapse and subsequent demise.
Joseph Kilmartin, another Patriots enthusiast who was present at the game, disclosed to press that he bore witness to a “violent confrontation” that preceded the fan’s unfortunate demise. According to Kilmartin, Mooney had approached a group of fans on the 300-level of the stadium towards the end of the fourth quarter.
Kilmartin recounted, “He essentially grabbed another fan. They engaged in a physical altercation for a few minutes. At one point, another fan approached, and he struck him… and the man just lost consciousness. It was quite distressing to witness.”
Kilmartin, however, chose not to grant press an interview on the matter.
The New England Patriots also issued a statement in which they identified Dale Mooney as a loyal fan and a season ticket holder with a long history of support for the team.
