In a heartbreaking turn of events, a shocking incident unfolded in Orange Beach, Alabama, resulting in the loss of two lives affiliated with the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office. This devastating occurrence, described as a murder-suicide, has left the community shaken and grieving.

The grim news reached Cullman County officials when the Orange Beach Police Department contacted them early Thursday morning. Cullman County Sheriff Matt Gentry, visibly affected by the tragic events, shared the somber details with the public through a press release.

According to Gentry, the incident appeared to stem from an argument between Deputy Kenneth Booth and another employee of the Sheriff’s Office, whom he was reportedly in a dating relationship with. The argument took a horrific turn when Deputy Booth drew his weapon, resulting in the tragic shooting of the victim. The victim, identified as shift supervisor Lexi White, was also a cherished member of the Sheriff’s Office.

In the statement, Sheriff Gentry expressed his deep sorrow over the incident, saying, “Our family here at the Sheriff’s Office is devastated. We are deeply shocked and profoundly saddened. Our thoughts are with the affected families. Please join us in offering support.”

Lexi White, who tragically lost her life in the incident, had been a dedicated part of the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office since she was just 16 years old. Her commitment to the community was evident through her involvement in the Youth Leadership Academy, where she was a charter member and continued to contribute either as a participant or a coach. Sheriff Gentry’s heartfelt words reflected the deep bond he shared with Lexi, as he said, “There are not enough words to express what she and her family mean to me. I am literally heartbroken. I feel like Lexi is one of my own kids.”
