Tragic Shooting Incident Near Hebron: Israeli Woman Killed, West Bank Violence Escalates
A tragic incident occurred near Hebron in the occupied West Bank, where an Israeli woman lost her life and a man was seriously injured in what is believed to be a Palestinian shooting attack on a car.
Reports suggest that around two dozen bullets were fired at the vehicle from a passing car on a highway close to the Beit Hagai settlement. The woman who lost her life has been identified as Batsheva Nigri, while a young girl who was also in the car, reported to be her daughter, thankfully escaped harm.
Israeli military personnel are actively pursuing the suspects involved in the attack and have established roadblocks in the surrounding area. Palestinian media sources indicate that they have cordoned off Hebron and are questioning individuals attempting to enter or exit the city.
Batsheva Nigri was a nurturing mother of three and a dedicated nursery teacher residing in Beit Hagai, according to Israeli media. She and her six-year-old daughter had accepted a ride home from the man who was driving the car.
Hamas, a Palestinian militant group, has praised this attack and labeled it a “natural response” to the construction of Israeli settlements in the West Bank.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu personally visited the scene later, describing the situation as an ongoing “terror attack” that was allegedly “encouraged, guided, and funded by Iran and its satellite states.”
In a separate incident in the northern West Bank village of Beita, the Palestinian health ministry reported that six Palestinians were shot and wounded by Israeli forces. One individual who was hit in the head is in critical condition in the hospital. A circulating online video seems to depict a man being shot in the back of his head while attempting to flee from Israeli troops.
This incident is part of a recent escalation of violence in the West Bank. Just days prior, an Israeli man and his son were tragically shot and killed by a suspected Palestinian gunman at a car wash near the village of Huwara. Another distressing incident involved Israeli forces shooting a 15-year-old Palestinian boy in the head in occupied East Jerusalem, leaving him with serious injuries. The police claimed he had attempted to throw a petrol bomb during a raid in the Silwan area. Furthermore, video footage captured what appeared to be an unarmed Palestinian man, who reportedly suffered from mental health issues, being shot in the leg by Israeli troops during a protest near Israel’s separation barrier in Qalqilya.
Throughout this year, there have been numerous Israeli army raids into Palestinian cities, as well as instances of violence by Israeli settlers targeting Palestinian homes, and Palestinian-initiated attacks on Israelis.
