Family of 4 found shot to death in Romeoville home; police rule out murder-suicide

Horrific Tragedy Strikes Illinois Family and Their Beloved Pets

A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded in Romeoville, Illinois, a close-knit village located about 30 miles southwest of Chicago. On a quiet Sunday evening, a family of four was discovered lifeless, each with gunshot wounds, sending shockwaves through the tight-knit community.

The grim discovery came to light when concerned family members reached out to the Romeoville Police Department, requesting a well-being check at the family’s residence. Their fears had been triggered by the absence of a family member from work that fateful Sunday morning, September 17. Phone calls went unanswered throughout the day, deepening their worries.

Upon arriving at the home, the police were met with a devastating scene. Four individuals, including two adults and two children, had tragically lost their lives due to gunshot wounds. To make matters even more heart-wrenching, three beloved dogs had also fallen victim to fatal gunshots.

As the community grappled with shock and sorrow, the Romeoville Police Department commenced its investigation. While still in its early stages, the preliminary findings pointed to a timeframe for the incident, believed to have occurred between 9 p.m. on Saturday evening and 5 a.m. on Sunday morning.

During a press conference held the following Monday, Chris Burne, Deputy Chief of the Romeoville Police Department, shared the distressing news that they were treating the case as a murder investigation. However, he emphasized that it was not a murder-suicide, dispelling the haunting notion that one of the victims might have been responsible.

Burne offered reassurance to the community, stating, “We don’t believe that the offender is among the victims right now.” He went on to explain that there was no immediate need for residents to take shelter or fear for their safety. “There is no ongoing threat due to the time frame that has gone by, more than 18 hours from the time we were contacted,” Burne assured.

As the investigation progressed, the police cordoned off the area and meticulously collected evidence, including a computer hard drive, in their quest for answers.

The family at the center of this tragic event has been identified as Alberto Rolon and Zoralda Bartolomei. Heartbreakingly, the names of the children have not been released to the public, presumably to protect their privacy during this incredibly difficult time.

In their pursuit of justice, the Romeoville Police Department has called upon the community for assistance. Anyone with information related to this heart-wrenching incident is urged to contact the Romeoville Police Department at 815-886-7219. As the community mourns the loss of four lives and searches for answers, their collective strength and support will undoubtedly be needed to navigate the difficult days ahead.
