Upon their swift arrival, the heart-wrenching discovery of a life lost was made. The victim, a 22-year-old woman named Katrina Blackburn, had succumbed to a devastating gunshot wound to her head. It was a grim scene that left everyone grappling with a profound sense of loss.
The authorities wasted no time securing the area, determined to bring justice to this heartbreaking situation. With the invaluable assistance of the 14th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, a meticulous investigation was launched to unearth the truth behind this senseless tragedy.

In a startling revelation contained within an arrest affidavit, deputies were told by James that he was attempting to unload a firearm when an accidental pull of the trigger resulted in the fatal shot that claimed Katrina’s life. This heartbreaking revelation led to James being arrested and slapped with charges of reckless homicide and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
