Increased Reward to $25K for Capture of Escaped Inmate Danelo Cavalcante

Pennsylvania officials offer $25K reward for escaped prisoner

Danelo Cavalcante: Reward Increased as Hunt Intensifies

GLENMOORE, Pa. — In a recent development, Chester County in Pennsylvania has upped the ante in the hunt for escaped inmate Danelo Cavalcante, increasing the reward for information leading to his capture by $5,000. Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Col. George Bivens announced this on Monday, bringing the total reward to a substantial $25,000.

Cavalcante’s escape has not only put law enforcement on high alert but also raised questions about the involvement of his family. It was revealed that his sister has been detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and is currently facing deportation proceedings. She had overstayed her visa but, to the disappointment of authorities, chose not to assist in her brother’s capture.

Law enforcement officials have made it clear that anyone aiding Cavalcante, who is 34 years old, will face prosecution. Their determination to bring him to justice is unwavering.

As of now, there is no concrete evidence to suggest that Cavalcante has left Pennsylvania, but authorities are prepared for a nationwide search if necessary. Their concern stems from the possibility that Cavalcante may attempt to steal another vehicle, as he recently used a van in an unsuccessful bid to seek help from two former colleagues.

In response to the evolving situation, manpower dedicated to the search has doubled, with around 300 individuals now actively involved in the effort to locate Cavalcante. The search area, which initially focused on the vicinity of Chester County, has expanded, and law enforcement is operating without a fixed perimeter. Lt. Col. Bivens emphasized their commitment to keeping residents informed, stating, “If a possible threat develops, we’ll use the reverse 911 system to notify affected residences.”

Authorities suspect that Cavalcante managed to break through their initial perimeter by utilizing an underground tunnel or a drainage ditch, making his escape all the more daring and elusive.

The chain of events leading to his current fugitive status began with the theft of a van from Baily’s Dairy Farm in West Chester. Remarkably, someone had left the keys inside, allowing Cavalcante to take off. He eventually abandoned the van when it ran out of gas.

Desperate for assistance, Cavalcante attempted to contact two former coworkers, one of whom captured his image on a doorbell camera in the Phoenixville area. The footage revealed that he had shaved off his facial hair and was wearing a green hoodie, a stark contrast to his previous appearance.

Danelo Cavalcante,

Cavalcante has not been sighted since Saturday night, and it’s worth noting that one of his former associates engaged in a conversation with him in Portuguese over the Ring doorbell. However, this was the first contact in years between Cavalcante and these individuals.

Deputy U.S. Marshal Robert Clark, the supervisor of the U.S. Marshal Fugitive Task Force for eastern Pennsylvania, stated, “Now, we’re going to prepare for the long game, and the long game is what we do best.” This sentiment reflects the determination of law enforcement to bring Cavalcante to justice, no matter how protracted the pursuit may become.

The search has intensified in northern Chester County, with a significant police presence in Glenmoore during Sunday evening and continued operations in East Nantmeal on Monday.

Local residents have understandably grown anxious as the search continues. Tammy Korczynski, a resident, expressed her concern, saying, “It’s been difficult, but it’s even more difficult now that it’s in our backyard, and really, we’re not surprised because this is where he’s familiar.”

Robert Kirkner, another resident of East Nantmeal, shared similar sentiments, emphasizing the unusual nature of this situation in normally tranquil Chester County. “Every cop within 20 miles of here was here,” he said.

Despite the ongoing manhunt, several school districts in the area are maintaining their regular schedules, ensuring that daily life continues as smoothly as possible.

In a letter posted online, Phoenixville Area Schools and several schools in the Downingtown Area School District have moved outdoor activities indoors as the search for Cavalcante persists.

Danelo Cavalcante,

Pennsylvania State Police have not provided any updates regarding additional sightings of Cavalcante, underscoring the importance of the public’s vigilance. Authorities urge residents to review their surveillance camera footage and promptly report any potential sightings of the escaped inmate.
