4 men charged during investigation into LMPD officer’s shooting

Chickasaw Shooting Incident: 4 Detained, Officer Still Critical, Charges Detailed

Four individuals find themselves in custody as part of an ongoing investigation into the shooting incident involving an LMPD officer. It’s a troubling situation that has left many in the Chickasaw neighborhood of Louisville concerned and seeking answers.

The incident unfolded at approximately 2:30 a.m. on a Thursday in the 4000 block of Kentucky Street. This unfortunate event occurred while an LMPD officer, identified as Brandon Haley, was conducting a routine traffic stop. Shockingly, shots rang out from a nearby residence, turning a seemingly routine situation into a dangerous one.

Officer Brandon Haley, a dedicated member of the Louisville Metro Police Department since 2021, was the target of the gunfire. At the time, he was not partnered with another officer, as both he and Colin Billotto were operating as solo officers during this incident.

In response to the escalating situation, the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team swiftly arrived at the scene, creating a tense and complex environment. After hours of intense efforts, four individuals were taken into custody by law enforcement.

However, it’s important to note that the charges brought against Jemond Groves Jr., Quantez Porter, Dominique Thompson, and Jacquan Ransom do not directly relate to the shooting incident itself. Instead, they face various charges such as resisting arrest, trafficking a controlled substance, receiving stolen property, and tampering with evidence.

Jemond Groves Jr. faces charges of criminal trespassing and a weapons-related offense. All four individuals entered not guilty pleas when their cases were presented in court. It’s worth mentioning that none of these men have been charged in connection with the shooting of Officer Haley.

As of the latest update, Officer Brandon Haley remains in critical condition but is reported to be stable as of Friday. His road to recovery is uncertain, and the Louisville Metro Police Department continues to rally around him during this challenging time.

In light of these events, the LMPD is urging anyone with information related to the shooting incident to come forward. They have established an anonymous tip line at 502-574-5673 for individuals who may have valuable information to share. The community’s cooperation is crucial in ensuring justice is served and in preventing such incidents from happening again in the future.

This unsettling incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers that law enforcement officers face daily while working to protect our communities. The Louisville community, along with Officer Brandon Haley and his family, awaits justice and resolution in this case, while hoping for a full recovery for Officer Haley.
