9-Year-Old Charlotte Sena Found Safe, Abduction Suspect Apprehended

Missing 9-year-old girl found safe, suspect in custody

Harrowing Discovery and Swift Action: How Charlotte Sena’s Abduction Unfolded

Craig Nelson Ross Jr., aged 47, has been apprehended in connection with the abduction of 9-year-old Charlotte Sena, who went missing from Moreau Lake State Park in New York over the weekend. Fortunately, authorities have confirmed that Charlotte Sena has been located and is now safe and in good health. She was taken to a hospital for evaluation following her rescue.

The key breakthrough in this case occurred at approximately 4:20 a.m. when state police observed an individual dropping something into the Sena family mailbox. To their surprise, it turned out to be a ransom note. Law enforcement promptly initiated an examination of the note for fingerprints. Initially, their focus was on a person of interest who ultimately did not match the prints. However, they eventually identified the correct fingerprints, which were connected to a 1999 DWI arrest in Saratoga County. Governor Kathy Hochul disclosed that investigators positively identified the suspect as Craig Nelson Ross Jr. just ten hours after he was seen delivering the ransom note himself.

Following this crucial lead, state and federal tactical teams quickly surrounded a camper located behind his mother’s double-wide trailer in Milton, just outside Saratoga Springs. Governor Hochul provided an update during a news briefing, stating, “Within the camper, they located the suspect. After some resistance, the suspect was taken into custody, and immediately the little girl was found in a cabinet, covered. She was rescued.”

The news of Charlotte’s safe recovery brought immense relief to her family and the community. Her aunt, Jene Sena, expressed their joy, saying, “We are just elated she came home.” Charlotte was later reunited with her family at a local hospital, according to Governor Hochul.

Throughout this challenging ordeal, community members rallied together, maintaining hope for Charlotte’s safe return. Patrick Kane, a family friend, parked his car near the park entrance, expressing his unwavering belief that Charlotte would come back home. He said, “God’s going to bring her back home. I know that. I mean, it may not be today, and I don’t know what kind of circumstances she’s under right now, but hopefully, it’s something that she can deal with the rest of her life because she’s coming back home.”

Governor Hochul also conveyed her gratitude to the law enforcement agencies involved in the search, stating, “Our hearts are with her family as they welcome her home… It is because of their efforts that Charlotte will be able to return home safe to her family.”
