Suspect arrested in deadly shooting of 15-year-old at Everett bus stop

Horrific Incident Shakes Everett:

New Worries Arise Following Arrest in Everett Shooting of Teen at School Bus Stop

In the wake of Friday’s tragic shooting death of a 15-year-old Everett teen at a school bus stop, new fears have gripped the community. While Everett police have made an arrest in the case, residents are now expressing concerns about the safety of their own children who wait for the school bus at the same stop.

The announcement of an arrest was made by Everett police earlier today, bringing a glimmer of hope to a grieving community. A man has been taken into custody for allegedly shooting the 15-year-old boy as he waited for the school bus.

With classes set to resume tomorrow morning, many parents and guardians are understandably anxious about the safety of their children.

KIRO 7 managed to speak, off camera, with the devastated mother of the deceased teen. She conveyed the immense pain she is feeling over the loss of her son, making it clear that it’s too early for her to discuss her son’s tragic fate. She also hinted that there might be additional arrests in connection with the case.

Even before any further developments, the impact of the shooting on the community is evident. The incident occurred right outside the Westgate Estates mobile home park where many residents live.

Kathy Lindsley, one of the residents, vividly recalls the horrifying moment she woke up to gunshots that fateful morning. “I woke up to gunshots that morning,” she said, “Yep. More than one gunshot.”

For Lindsley, this rude awakening was particularly distressing because her 12-year-old grandson waits at the same bus stop. She confessed that at first, she feared that her grandson might be the victim.

According to Everett police, the victim was indeed a 15-year-old boy who was fatally shot by an assailant that then fled the scene in a black sedan with silver or alloy tire rims.

However, there was a glimmer of hope for the community when on Sunday morning, Everett police announced the arrest of an adult male in connection with the incident. While they did not officially confirm the identity, we found information on the Snohomish County jail roster indicating that a 20-year-old man had been apprehended on Saturday night, facing investigation for first-degree murder and held on a million-dollar bail.

James Isaman, a resident of the mobile home park for six years, expressed his shock at the incident. He noted that while violence can happen anywhere, this particular neighborhood had been relatively immune to such events until Friday.

Kathy Lindsley, who had known the victim and revealed that he often played with her grandson, shared her concerns about her grandson’s safety while waiting for the school bus. “He was a nice little boy,” Lindsley said, “Real polite.” Now, she and her grandson are both apprehensive about him waiting alone at the bus stop. “It’s just his Mom and me are afraid to leave him down at the bus stop by himself,” she admitted. “But he’s 12-years-old. He doesn’t want us walking him there, you know. So, I don’t know. I don’t know what we’re going to do yet.”

As the community grapples with this tragedy, they have a few hours to decide on the best way to ensure the safety of their children at the school bus stop.

The suspect arrested in connection with the murder is expected to make his first court appearance tomorrow. Everett police are urging anyone with information about this deadly shooting to call 911.

This story is still developing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available. The Everett Police Department’s Anti-Crime Team and Violent Crime Unit are actively working on the case to ensure justice is served and the community can regain a sense of security.
