The accused, Edmund Davis, 36, came under scrutiny when investigators searched his Havre apartment in July in connection with the Navarro case. Alicia Navarro had vanished from her mother’s home in Glendale, Arizona, on September 15, 2019, when she was just 14 years old. Her sudden reappearance in Havre, Montana, at the age of 18 has been a mystery in itself.
The charges against Davis, however, are entirely separate from Navarro’s case. According to the Montana attorney general’s office, explicit images of a child or children aged 12 or younger engaged in sexual conduct, either actual or simulated, were discovered on Davis’s phone during the search. Additionally, charging documents indicate that there was at least one other underage victim, aged under 16, involved.
In a shocking revelation, it was disclosed that over 80 explicit images were found on Davis’s cellphone, as mentioned in the court documents filed on October 16, which sought his arrest. These distressing discoveries have led to two felony counts of sexual abuse of children being levied against Davis.
The arrest took place in Chinook, Montana, and was carried out by the Montana Department of Justice’s Division of Criminal Investigation and the Blaine County Sheriff’s Department. Davis currently remains in custody at the Hill County Detention Center, with a bond set at one million dollars.
Disturbingly, nine of the explicit images on Davis’s phone received “maturity” ratings from Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Further analysis revealed that seven of these pictures depicted children under the age of 13, and two of them showed children under the age of 5. These findings highlight the deeply troubling nature of the images in question.
Court documents detailing the case describe graphic images found not only on Davis’s cellphone but also on a laptop in his possession. These images depict “prepubescent” females and “an apparent young boy.” Additionally, the documents mention the presence of images of infants and toddlers, further intensifying the gravity of the case.
What compounds the situation is the fact that Davis, described as Navarro’s boyfriend in the court documents, tried to discard his cellphone during the search of his home. When law enforcement officers arrived at the apartment, they were initially told by Navarro that no one was home. However, they noticed Davis in the kitchen, attempting to dispose of his cellphone by throwing it into the trash and concealing it under other items. This suspicious behavior raised concerns and played a crucial role in the subsequent investigation.
Alicia Navarro’s sudden reappearance in Montana remains a baffling aspect of this case. Authorities have not yet disclosed how she ended up in Montana or how long she had been living there. In a previous statement, Glendale police spokesman Jose Santiago noted that when Navarro walked into the Montana police station, her primary request was to be removed from the missing juvenile list. She indicated that she had not been harmed, as evidenced in a video released by authorities, where she is heard telling detectives that she was unharmed.
Alicia Navarro’s mother, Jessica Nuñez, was overjoyed when her daughter was found safe. In a video message, she expressed her relief, calling it a “miracle” that her daughter had been found. Despite this positive development, the discovery of explicit images on the cellphone of the man associated with Navarro has added a dark twist to this ongoing saga.
