In a devastating incident that shook a quiet neighborhood in Georgetown, Texas, a 6-year-old boy named Jeremy has been fighting for his life in a hospital bed for over a week. This heart-wrenching story began on September 11th when a 39-year-old neighbor, Daniel Logan, allegedly broke into Jeremy’s home and brutally beat him with a baseball bat.

The brutal assault resulted in severe injuries for young Jeremy, including brain swelling and multiple skull fractures. The horrifying incident occurred at around 5 a.m., according to local law enforcement and reports.

Daniel Logan was swiftly arrested and faces serious charges, including injury to a child and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a family member. Shockingly, he is accused of using the same baseball bat to attack his own mother, as stated by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.

The distressing situation unfolded when Logan’s wife made a frantic 911 call after her mother-in-law emerged from the child’s home covered in blood, screaming that Daniel was harming everyone inside. This alarming call for help was detailed in the arrest affidavit obtained by the Austin American-Statesman.

In her account to a detective, Logan’s wife revealed that she was awakened by loud banging noises. To her shock, she realized that her husband was not in their home, but their back door was wide open. She ventured outside and noticed a hole in the picket fence that separated their property from Jeremy’s family’s home. Upon closer inspection, she discovered that the family’s glass door leading to the back patio had been shattered.

As the situation grew more horrifying, Logan’s wife could hear screams coming from inside the neighboring house. She recounted that her mother-in-law and Jeremy’s mother were both crying out for help.

Upon investigating further, Logan’s mother discovered her son armed with a baseball bat inside the neighbor’s home. She followed him upstairs, where she found young Jeremy “slumped on the floor of an upstairs bedroom,” according to authorities. In a tragic turn of events, Logan’s mother attempted to intervene and pleaded with her son to stop. However, he turned and struck her in the face with the bat, as detailed in the arrest document.

The motive behind this shocking attack remains unclear, as the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office did not provide any information regarding the motive. Jeremy’s father declined to comment on whether they knew the attacker due to an ongoing investigation into the incident, with the sheriff’s office labeling it a “random act.”

In the midst of this heartbreak, the community has rallied behind Jeremy and his family, with a GoFundMe campaign raising over $200,000 to support his medical care. Jeremy’s father, Arthur, shared an update on his son’s condition, mentioning that Jeremy remains in critical care but is showing signs of movement in all his limbs and is responsive. He fondly recalled how active and talented his son was before this tragic incident, highlighting Jeremy’s fluency in Chinese, his piano skills, and his role as a hero to his younger brother. In his words, “He is awesome.”

This shocking incident serves as a stark reminder of the resilience of communities in times of adversity and the importance of supporting one another during difficult times.
